Dry, tight or itchy scalps and dry, frizzy hair are very common during treatment and regrowth, and a little oil can make a real difference to comfort.

• Deep conditioning mask: Warm a small amount of oil between your palms, then massage into damp hair and/or scalp. Cover with a towel and leave for an hour or overnight, then wash as normal.

• Top tip for rinsing: Only moisten your hair a little, then add shampoo and lather before adding more water. This helps the oil rinse out more easily.

• Soothing scalp massage: Massaging a few drops into the scalp can help ease dryness and tightness, and feels lovely too.

• Frizz and shine: Smooth a tiny amount through the lengths and ends to calm frizz, add shine and restore hydration.

• Gentle on fragile hair: Its light texture suits fine, fragile or newly regrowing hair without weighing it down.

• Carrier oil: Mix a few drops with an essential oil for a bespoke scalp massage oil. Essential oils must always be diluted before they touch the skin. Rosemary Essential Oil has gained popularity in recent years to aid hair growth and may even prevent hair loss or Peppermint Essential Oil can help with dryness, itching and other scalp problems. 

Warm a few drops between your palms and massage in. A little goes a long way. Always patch test first by applying a small amount to your inner forearm and waiting 24 hours.

Please don’t use if you have a coconut allergy. Some people find that coconut oil can clog pores, so it may not suit very oily or acne-prone facial skin.
